Empowering Freedom of Movement
Are you dealing with persistent tendon pain or a flare-up that won’t settle? From sports-related tendon injuries to overuse conditions, Ace Sports Clinic Malvern can get you moving with confidence again.
Comprehensive Care for Tendon Pain and Overload
Tendons connect muscles to bone and play a vital role in movement, absorbing and transmitting force during everyday activity and sport. Tendonitis and tendinopathy (the broader term for tendon-related conditions) commonly develop from overuse, repetitive strain, sudden increases in training load, or poor biomechanics. They can affect areas such as the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, or Achilles tendon.
Our comprehensive tendon treatment plans are designed to reduce pain and lower the risk of recurrence. Depending on your condition, your tailored program may include:
- Clinical and physical assessments to determine the severity of tendon irritation or degeneration
- Manual therapy and soft tissue techniques to reduce stiffness and support healing
- Load management strategies to calm pain and prevent further aggravation
- Progressive strengthening programs to help heal the tendon and improve tendon capacity and resilience
- Mobility and flexibility work to optimise joint mechanics
- Neuromuscular retraining to improve movement patterns and reduce overload
- Education and guidance on return-to-sport timelines and long-term tendon health
- Collaboration with our multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, and osteopaths, for holistic care

Rebuild Strength with Targeted Tendonitis Rehabilitation
Common Symptoms of Tendinopathy
Tendon irritation or degeneration can cause:
- Localised pain around a tendon that changes with activity – sometimes warms up but can also worsen depending on activity level
- Tenderness when pressing on the affected tendon
- Stiffness after sleeping
- Swelling or thickening around the tendon
- Pain during or after exercise
- Reduced strength in the affected area
- Ongoing discomfort that limits performance or daily movement
Types of Tendon Conditions We Treat
At Ace Sports Clinic Malvern, we treat a wide range of tendon-related conditions, including:
- Achilles tendinopathy affecting the back of the ankle
- Patellar tendonitis (jumper’s knee)
- Rotator cuff tendonitis in the shoulder
- Tennis elbow (lateral elbow tendinopathy)
- Golfer’s elbow (medial elbow tendinopathy)
- Gluteal tendinopathy affecting the outer hip
- Chronic tendinopathy resulting from long-term overload or incomplete rehabilitation
Treatment Plans for Tendonitis
Your treatment plan will depend on the location and severity of your tendon condition, your activity levels, and your goals. Common stages include:
- Acute Phase: Reducing pain and irritation, modifying aggravating activities, and introducing gentle loading.
- Rehabilitation Phase: Progressive strength training to improve tendon capacity, along with mobility and movement correction.
- Functional Phase: Gradual return to sport or higher-level activity with structured load progression.
- Prevention Phase: Ongoing strengthening and education to reduce recurrence risk and maintain long-term tendon health.
